Anatomy of a Project (Vol. 3.1) - The Key Players

Since we’re talking about a community development project in this series (as you may remember from volume two), you can be pretty sure that I am not working alone!  I think it’s important to understand the kind of collaboration that must take place between various groups in order to develop a successful project.

So along those lines, the goal of this post (The Key Players) is to clearly describe the multiple groups involved in the economical stove project in particular and to understand each group’s role in making it a reality.  The parallel goal then, is to describe the landscape of a community development project in general and the basic elements that make it up (designer/facilitator and community).

This post is super long but it includes lots of pictures and other goodies, so hopefully it will hold your attention well enough.  Due to its obscene length, I’ve actually split up what was originally going to be just "volume three" into three sub-sections so it’ll be easier to digest.

Here’s the general outline so you can have some idea what you’re getting yourself into:

(Vol. 3.1) - The Key Players
              This intro post!

        (Vol. 3.2) - The Designers/Facilitators
              NGO Alcance Nicaragua
            Me the Peace Corps volunteer

        (Vol. 3.3) - The Community
             Community Los Álvarez
             Community El Llanito
             Community Leaders
             The Cooperatives

And there it is, all laid out.

    • (Vol. 1) – Intro to Economical Stoves
    • (Vol. 2) – Community Development…The Goal
